It's alive! Alive!!!
I know... I haven't checked my FL in forever and I haven't updated this journal in forever [insert a ramble about RL and apologies to my FL here.] Yet, my FL kept growing and getting close to 500! (W00t! :DDDD) And I felt like I should do something special.
Since several people asked me for my profile codes, here are 2 profile layouts I have used over the past year. I hope you like them and that this big post will make up for the lack of updates ;) For those of you who were hoping for a (regular) layout, there's one in the works ;)

Little Boxes - Profile Layouts
For each version, you can choose how many "boxes" you want and you can easily change the color scheme (the colors are similar to the ones I used in the layouts I released so far, with some slight changes.)

This is the first time I post a profile layout: tell me if you're having issues with the code, I'll update my F.A.Q. accordingly.

Version A 1 column
Profile codes (1, 2, 3 and 4 boxes)

Version B 2 column
Profile codes (2, 4 and 6 boxes)

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes!
LJ made some changes over the last few days, as a result the user-icons and the lock icons may not display correctly.

To make it work, just go through your CSS stylesheet and replace the text http://stat.livejournal.com with http://p-stat.livejournal.com

Thanks to [info]yellow_v ^^

This is not the only change that was made: if you have a plus or a paid account and a Flexible Squares layout, you may see a black border around the comment form (you only see it when you reply to a comment.)

How to get rid of it )

All these changes mean that I need to modify the stylesheets of the layouts I'm sharing (about 30) Oh joy! Please be patient while I do that.

Testing a new layout + question
I'm testing a new layout that I will share soon (I still have to finish the comments page and a few other things). [info]passing_girl, [info]passing_girl, [info]passing_girl.

I had a really hard time with the menu because this is a centered "Flexible Squares" layout and the menu is on the right, just above the sidebar. I can't tell for sure but I may be the only one doing this kind of thing with FS. I like challenges ;)
Anyway, I tested this layout with a few computers and several browsers (I made it work with IE6, yay!) and it looks fine, but I figured I'd ask my FL. If you don't see the menu positioned on the right (like this), I'd be very grateful if you told me.

I thought I'd try to make a dark layout for a change, which is not really my thing. So, if you have any suggestions or remarks I'll be glad to hear them. I keep seeing these dark layouts with tiny, tiny text. I know it's cute and it looks cooler, but tiny text really hurts my eyes. Do you guys prefer tiny text in the entries?

Finally I'm making tiny icons (similar to the previous ones), but these will also work with darker backgrounds, since the previous ones were suited for white backgrounds.

*snorts*
I'm sick of being sick. All I've been doing for the last few days is sleeping, coughing, spitting, snorting, blowing my nose and... huh, yeah, watching TV. You don't want to see what I look like right now.

On the plus side:

Flu + Bronchitis = You save money on your phone bill!
Why using your phone? You're voiceless and typing text-messages gives you a headache.

Flu + Bronchitis = Most efficient diet EVER!
No need for salt, sugar, cream, butter or anything unhealthy anymore. Everything pretty much tastes like paper anyway. Right now, I couldn't tell you the difference between this and this. Plus you don't eat much, because, duh, it's just not fun to eat paper!

If you're desperate to lose the weight you gained during the holidays, I'll gladly send you one of the million paper tissues piled up in my waste basket. All I ask for is a thought for all the innocent trees I must have killed since it all began T_T *grabs a clean paper tissue and blows her nose* Woops, another one bites the dust.

100 movies in 2008?

500 tv show episodes in 2008?

Nina, tu sauras toujours ce que je regarde maintenant ;)

YouTube!

The videos the WGA doesn't want you to see:
- Think of all the taxes you'll avoid paying! You are welcome.
- 300 dollars for someone who can write an episode of House!
The first one makes me think about the "Bob Loblaw" video in Arrested Development. Hilarious!

I like the Daft Hands better, but the Daft Bodies are cool too.

See you later... way later
From the Strike blog at TV guide.com

Lost cocreator/head writer Damon Lindelof warns, "If this strike lasts longer than three months, an entire season of television will end this December," and any new series won't arrive until 2009 [...] "Things have gotten ugly," Lindelof opines, "and the lines of communication have broken down completely ... Perhaps it's not too late, though, for both sides to rally around the one thing we still have in common: our mourning for the way things used to be."

Peter Chernin, president of Fox parent company News Corp, tells the ongoing WGA walkout is "probably a positive" thing [...] "We're better positioned than any of our colleagues. Our animated shows are a year ahead in terms of scripts, and we have American Idol and other reality shows coming." [...] " However, he allows, a work stoppage of eight months or longer would affect the company's bottom line.

Yeah, like I'm going to watch reality TV!

Hope you're enjoying the last new episodes of the season because it looks like this strike is going to last. There are no negotiations and the networks are ready to unleash reality tv. At this point, I'm hoping we're gonna have new series next fall (and not only returning series.) Bye bye Joss Whedon's new show. See you in freaking 2009!

New layout coming soon (I'm thinking later this month or early next month). I know, I'm not exactly what you call a productive layout maker. Just give me a little time to deal with RL issues ;)

Edit: I found an interesting article on EW.com )

If the Apocalypse comes, beep me.
Will your favorite show be affected by the writers strike? (incomplete list.)

Writers’ strike could alter TV landscape

Still, a prolonged strike could stamp out midseason series and irretrievably damage shows currently on the air, particularly the new series still struggling to attain a fan base. Nominal hits such as Pushing Daisies could lose momentum.

“With these new shows, to have to lop them off at episode six or nine, that’s not good,” Thompson noted. “Just as when, after you’ve been on a second date and things seem to be going well, that’s not a good time to go on a six-month vacation.”

Noooooo! I hope it won't go that far.

And some good news: Joss Whedon returns to TV.

In layout news: I thought the details I gave in my layout post would be enough, apparently not. So I wrote a much needed FAQ. I'll be damned if somebody doesn't find the answer to his "layout related" question somewhere in this journal! ;) I won't answer to questions that have already been answered in this FAQ for now on, because it's much easier for me that way.

Also, I knew it would happen when I shared my layout, but actually witnessing it makes me a bit sad )

IE is Evil
I'm currently testing a new layout.
[info]passing_girl  [info]passing_girl  [info]passing_girl

I was a bit tired of my previous layout (despite all the color schemes) and I wanted to make something wider this time. It's still "Flexible Squares" because learning a new style is too difficult :b Of course the layout looks perfectly fine with Firefox, Opera and Netscape, but there are some issues with the menu on Internet Explorer *kicks IE* I'll make things work eventually. Don't use IE people! IE is evil! It makes my life more difficult.
